Some Book Recommendations
Beginning Fingerstyle Blues Guitar (Book and Audio CD) If you make time to match the clips on the CD to the text this is quite a rewarding book. Lots of explanation and some good tunes to learn at the end.
The Art of Solo Fingerpicking : How to Play Alternating-Bass Fingerstyle Guitar Solos (book and CD) Highlyt recommended for the keen player. It is full of good advice and will teach you to play well from the start.
Fingerstyle Blues Songbook: Learn to Play Country Blues, Ragtime Blues, Boogie Blues and More There are some nice examples to learn and the CD is very helpful. It will take you through a good range of blues styles.
John Renbourn Fingerstyle Guitar Book/3-CD set I saw John Renbourn live at Bangor in the late '60s. He was with Pentangle and, for me, stole the show. This was the moment I knew I had to learn fingerstyle.
Chet Atkins - Vintage Fingerstyle
(Artist Songbooks Series)
Chet Atkins must be the first fingerstyle guitarist I ever heard. This book takes you through some close transcriptions of his vintage stuff. I include it for its nostalgia value.
